For many players, D4 items farming becomes less exciting when the character reaches the endgame. Early upgrades come quickly, but later improvements require specific materials, stronger gear, and more targeted farming. At that point, simply running whatever activity happens to be available is rarely the best strategy.

The same applies when collecting D4 items for a finished build. You need to know whether your priority is Mythic progression, Masterworking, Horadric Cube upgrades, general crafting resources, or experience. Once that priority is clear, choosing the right farming route becomes much easier.

Start With the Upgrade You Want

The most useful question before a farming session is not which boss you should fight. It is what you want to accomplish with the next few hours.

If your build needs a Mythic Unique, high-tier summoning materials should be the priority. If you already have your important gear but cannot finish Masterworking, Obducite becomes more important. If several smaller resources are running low, an activity with broad rewards may be the better choice.

This simple habit prevents a common endgame problem: spending a long time collecting something simply because it is available.

High-Tier Bosses for Mythic Hunting

Players chasing Mythic Uniques should pay close attention to materials connected with high-tier encounters.

Pandemonium Fragments and related summoning resources can lead toward the Corrupted Reaper, making them particularly valuable for players who want concentrated endgame rewards. These encounters can offer a stronger return on seasonal resources and Mythic progression than repeatedly running lower-tier bosses.

The main advantage is efficiency. Instead of separating your farming into several small activities, you can work toward an encounter that represents a major progression target.

This does not mean every player should spend all of their time farming high-tier bosses. The value depends on your build and objective. But when Mythic progression is your main goal, these materials deserve a much higher priority.

Farm Masterworking Materials Where They Drop Best

Masterworking can become one of the biggest material sinks once you begin refining your final gear.

Infernal Hordes are a natural choice when Obducite and other Masterworking resources are needed. High-wave runs provide Burning Aether that can then be directed toward Spoils of Material chests.

You can also choose gold rewards when your crafting costs become the bigger problem. The important thing is to avoid choosing rewards automatically. Take a moment at the end of each run and decide which resource will create the most immediate improvement.

That small decision can make your farming sessions much more efficient over time.

Use Nightmare Dungeons for Versatility

Sometimes you do not have one clear material shortage. Your character may need gems, Obols, crafting resources, Dust, and XP at the same time.

That is where Escalation Nightmare Dungeons become useful. Rather than maximizing one particular resource, you can collect several useful rewards during the same run.

Attuned Primordial Dust is particularly relevant for players working on Horadric Cube crafting and upgrades. Helltides can also contribute to Dust farming when combined with an optimized War Plan tree.

This kind of versatile activity is often better than constantly changing zones to chase individual resources.

Let Lesser Materials Build Naturally

Lesser Boss materials should usually be treated differently.

Malignant Hearts and Living Steel are useful, but deliberately farming each one can interrupt a more productive routine. Helltide Maggots provide a better alternative for many players because summoning materials can accumulate while you are already earning XP.

Ruptures and Hellworms can add to the experience loop, while the broader Helltide activity keeps your character progressing. After several sessions, you may discover that you have accumulated a healthy supply of Lesser Boss materials without ever specifically farming them.

That is exactly what passive farming should accomplish.

Be Selective With Belial

Belial is not necessarily a bad encounter, but it does not need to be part of every endgame rotation.

If you specifically want something from the encounter, run it. If your goal is broader seasonal progression or efficient Mythic farming, however, the time investment may be better spent elsewhere.

This distinction matters because endgame efficiency is always relative. A reward can be useful while the method of obtaining it remains inefficient compared with another activity.

Build a Farming Routine That Changes With Your Gear

Your ideal farming routine should change as your character develops. Early on, broad rewards and XP are usually more important. Once your core equipment is established, targeted materials become increasingly valuable.

Mythic hunting favors high-tier summoning resources. Masterworking favors Infernal Hordes. Mixed crafting needs favor Escalation Nightmare Dungeons. XP and Lesser Boss materials work well with Helltide Maggots and passive accumulation.

The best routine is therefore not one fixed farming route. It is a system that changes whenever your biggest bottleneck changes. If you choose to Diablo IV Items for sale as part of your gearing plans, having a clear understanding of your actual progression needs is still useful because it helps you decide which upgrades are worth pursuing and which can wait.
