14.01.2021 in Видеоклип The Last Of Us Part II Rage Cut | (The Last Of Us Part 2 (Gameplay + Promo))
Watching this the first time around was a pretty tough experience for me, as even if this source is somewhat familiar to me, at least visually and at surface level, the world it portrays is not something easily digestible, at least in what concerns me.
On multiple viewings, however, I came to terms with how much thought you put into this montage, from the emotional beats (re)familiarizing us with the characters at the beginning, to the linking shots meant to establish character development from later on and eventually, even to the brutal sequences defining these characters' struggle with an unrelenting aftermath of a world turned on its head.
Sound design came out natural and harmonious too, all through the chords shaped by your trademark guitar pick that I have come to know and appreciate after first making my way into this website. So all of it coupled with the fragments of each character's involvement in the story thoroughly weaved into the fabric of this montage made this what I take it to be: a truly professional trailer showcasing the beautifully designed pain and suffering of this game, both visually and narratively, so much so that I can't help but hold it high up in my books in the end. Hats off to ya, Ilya!
14.01.2021 in Видеоклип Purple girl | (I, Tonya, Birds Of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Qui
Watched this back around the time you uploaded, the earliest of all of us! And amazingly so, as this was a combo probably laying dormant in my head for a long time, since I simply love the psychotic connotations of I, Tonya, a movie I loved so much that I watched twice, once at home and once at a film festival I volunteered at, simply amazing storytelling.
About your implementation here, there were many things taking me out of the whole experience though, sadly, from the sped up dancing to the non-matching footage shown during the choruses. The transitions to real life situations and then back to how it all translated into Tonya/Harley's mind were all well thought-out, I just wish you spent more time refining them and showing us your truest intention with these sources. Best of luck in the rankings though! Still rooting for ya!
14.01.2021 in Видеоклип Об English Гусарах Замолвите слово!(About English Hussars Say a word) | (Three Flavours Co
Although fun, crisp, inspired and really enjoyable, it was still mostly a dizzying experience for me, as the amount of fastcuts and oversync didn't stop even in the case of when I thought we would finally be taking a break -- which was when seeing the duck at 2:44 It was still a fresh take on such a source from you, so that is most definitely appreciated. Maybe my eyes are too weary these days, but I wish it was a bit less fast-paced, though the focus on the song's quirky beats was really cool!
14.01.2021 in Видеоклип Dark | (Dark (1-3 Season))
As someone very unfamiliar with the source, I can say this surely had one too many characters to keep track of, while the song's imposing need for frequent hardcuts had a tendency of exhausting my viewing. Regardless, the song did manage to sustain your narrative pretty well, as your more than often adhesion to the lyrics offered a solid base for this too. There was a certain cyclicality I felt, which aided the overall experience by making it worth it to pay close attention to detail, so that by the time the new part of storyline around 2:20 came around, I could be reminded of the long-haired dude's motivation and conflicts he was involved in up to that point.
Then I believe the main characters met their future selves or something, which led to more paranormal events that I could not explain from the first viewing, but which managed to still complete the world that you attempted to portray here, all the while making it worthwhile to get to the intensity of the montage at 3:05 and the finally released tension that followed it in one culminating burst. That was when I thought the video would end, but you had more plans with the clip, which took me further down the path of time and its confusing multithreads, ultimately making me think I was watching Interstellar.
All in all, what I felt in the end was something ethereal and bodiless just like what the characters must've felt meeting their younger selves through the corridors of time, as Manson's acidic expressionism reminded me once again that this was a painful story. Good intention and overall direction, but still lacking in development.
14.01.2021 in Видеоклип Tear of World | (Иди и смотри/Come And See)
Heard this movie is really brutal in its portrayal of war as seen by less experienced eyes like this, and your work proved this to me. It still confused me a bit, by the end I thought the boy who found the gun at the beginning was the one laughing at the end, but the girl showing up again at the end there kinda made me a bit confused again. Still, a very potent work, but with maybe not enough sustained efforts in the chorus to properly lift it off the ground like the warplane it probably intended to be, showering us in lines of fire whose flames tell a story crueler than whatever kids these days may ever be able to experience.
14.01.2021 in Видеоклип BrainDead | (Cyberpunk 2077)
A truly refreshing work from such a knowledgeable creator like you. While I still remain a bigger fan of your live action edits, this was also exceptionally well put-together, especially noted the great use of the complimentary materials (overlays etc.) that managed to capture the feel of the game's HUD and interface gimmicks.
I'm not a big fan of this kind of songs, sadly, which is why I mostly enjoyed the way you've done the slower parts, the bridges and buildups were amazing, as well as everything from 1:28 leading up to that explosive ending went so much better than the 2 choruses before it imo, so it was really satisfying to witness a quality increase there. The previous choruses just felt like they were dragging on with the same scenes here and there, but still, overall, this still had the Samuel feel to it, I thoroughly enjoyed it and am happy to have witnessed your return like this. Good luck to you too!

Greetings! To be honest, I did not immediately understand the meaning of the video, but gradually reviewing it over and over again and looking more closely, I began to notice those details that
began to appear in a single puzzle of this performance. Yes, in technical terms, also a test! Good luck!

Thank you! This truly is music to my ears, as it was my intention. There's much to find and interpret in this work, imo. So glad you were able to give it some meaning. I appreciate it.
13.01.2021 in Видеоклип OVERDRIVE (DMC 5 EDIT) | (Devil May Cry 5)
You always pull off the most unexpected of combos in your work, so what's not to love about that? We all know that this is what Vergil listens to when slicing off chairs with BP Taunt. Fierce yet maybe too short work, still, I enjoyed this demonic beat onslaught!
13.01.2021 in Видеоклип no limits | (Kingsman)
Probably my favourite action entry! Not sure which acted like a bunch of modelling clay in whose hands first, the song beautifully modelled by your technique in using this source footage (very fun-looking movies!) or the footage echoing through the inflexions of this truly mad song, but I surely know I thoroughly enjoyed this. Kingsman's slowmo action cuts were born to dance in the flames of such music! Great job and best of luck!
13.01.2021 in Видеоклип Jason's got a temper | (Mix)
From my standpoint, this is a very fun display of the true insanity that this actor brings on screen. Very enjoyable and strong, fearsome montage, only wish it lasted longer! I honestly thought the last quarter of the video was just a segue to the last part... that never came. Still, very strong!
13.01.2021 in Видеоклип Hospital For Souls | (Call Of Duty)
Expectedly, this was a soulful display of intertwined Call of Duty stories, which, even if I could not have truly understood them, given that I have not really followed the games, I was still able to recognize and appreciate.
That was of course, thanks to your craftsmanship in bridging every sequence of action through extremely thorough slow parts that completely mesmerized me. Not even one frame of those seemed to have been used in vain, not once did I feel a scene was left to drag on the screen uselessly. So even if the action parts fell a bit flat from my point of view, reminding me too much of the usual gameplay trailer montages of these games, they still managed to compliment the slow bits really well and overall give off a feeling of much more depth than what a seemingly flashy FPS franchise could offer. Thank you for giving us the chance to witness it through your eyes, you've really taken your craft to new lengths with this work.
By the time the lyrics mentioning the title of the song came around, I had already empathized a lot with the way your work followed the key points of the song, for example the "I have died a thousand times" part and the transformation into the flock of crows. Strong implementation of symbolism!

Все эти фишечки монтажные не могут не доставлять, да. М/в зачетное. Автор растет в техническом плане. Это хорошо. Но я не увидел ни драмы, ни истории, ни хоть сколько-нибудь связного повествования. Это плохо. 4.

Thanks a lot for the feedback! I did intend to show desperation and brutality in the last act of this video at least, all hopefully breaking off as a culmination of the tension built up all throughout, but I guess the direction I took towards getting more "style" points left me a bit open on this other side of story and drama, as I wanted to include this too, ultimately. Would extremely appreciate if you offered me more details on what I could have done better for next time, I am a big fan of yours!

did you mean dark as in "negative" and light as in "positive"?

It is my personal taste, that really does not matter. It is just about dark and bright colors used there. For me, strong bright and dark contrasts are the things that give me most striking impression. To be specific, when after bright scenes suddenly comes dark, I like it - destruction of light. Or vice versa (it can also be said about negative/positive).
In your clip bright and dark scenes are mostly ordered by parts, it seems like you are holding yourself, it is not that chaotic and striking. However, in general, it is better not to be chaotic. )

Now, while I know that the fact that I need to explain things means that I have not presented things clearly enough, I still decided to say this because I want you to know what my vision was.

I appreciate this. Now I understood better.

About story, I would have liked to see this not in 'action mode', but in 'dramatic mode', like slower pace, close-up of emotions of the characters, other song choice. If you're doing in 'action mode' - you cannot give a lot of information about characters. The most common approach for this is:
cause/reason -> some action -> result/consequence.
In 'dramatic mode', it is:
first cause/reason -> first result/consequence -> cause that is gained from first result/consequence -> build-up -> culmination -> final result/consequence.
You are doing 'action mode' story in dramatic approach, which is wrong. Hope I was clear.
BTW, I enjoyed your Gaksital x Naruto, I showed it to my friends, they also appreciated this).

Yoo, many apologies for only voicing out my reply now, but I really appreciated your explanation and the time you took showing me the vision behind your feedback too! I'll take it all into account for next time; cuz I do tend to make my stories pretty muddy, ya know, like I should make it clearer even if I change the order of these causes and results.
Also thank you! I had fun doing that quick short Gaksital video! Gaksital aka Bridal Mask is a very fun drama series, and just like many others with an action with revenge plot in them, it features similar plotlines and motifs to even anime, so I wanted to exploit that : p

I just belive in Сhineeze action more, than in Korean. And yes, I prefer the original filmed in 2013. But still good presentation. Among weeknesses: some important frames were to short (for a story), instead of pointing characters (1:10), at the same time unimportant transitions like at 1:14 were too long. Why not to try moving here the hand of a cheracter with a burning paper in it? To many transitions making stress on directions are good at action, not story. And again in the ending: fast changing frames with the characters, and a very long frame with the house without any sutten meaning. I would prefer to see the face for a bit longer time with gradually lowering exposure. Etc

Good luck at cont)

Hey, thanks a lot for the feedback! I appreciate light & dark combos of feedback, because I can see what I did wrong without feeling too bad about the whole situation : p Again, I thank you all for commending my efforts in crafting something better each time.

In relation to the original Chinese movie, Drug War, I've gotta say that I haven't seen it; the reason I gave this movie a shot was because of my passion for Korean cinema, and in this case - the heavily stylized aspect of this movie, with everything simply being a colourful pool of chaos trying to sort itself out.

While I acknowledge your observations and agree with some of them, I still wish to voice my remarks in order to make my vision clearer. For example, the establishing shots for some of the characters could have indeed been a tad longer, yes, but in this particular case I just feel that such distant shots of either urban or natural protrusions such as that tall building (of whose kind I also used at 0:35 after the explosion scene) coupled with fading away vocals offer the feeling of incorporeality and eerie immateriality of such moments in a song, that leaves you just as breathless and sinks your spirit just as deep within your chest like actually being at the top of such a construction. But as you have carefully noted, a different scene could have worked in the place of the building at 1:14.

About the frantic transitions in the sequence after this building though, I actually meant it to be some sort of action-like piece of exposition, meant to showcase the preparations the characters made in order to reach their goal. I can agree that this might've been more focused on the scenes themselves and not on following the exact story, though I did intend to include enough clues for the purpose of telling the story.

But about the final shot, I left that on for so long in order to send some sort of message about the cyclical structure of the vid, that's returning to its previous set of exposition scenes, with the man travelling through the snowy land to reach that same house - with the difference that now his travel has a finality. Your idea was actually really cool though, as a fade of the last character's face through the house would've maybe managed to put more emphasis on this, as long as it didn't ruin the emphasis put on the gunshot.

All in all, I still hope I managed to offer a pleasant enough experience, and that you found some more valuable insight in viewing this work in my reply. Thanks again!

Aaahhh, I see, hahah, well matter of fact, the pretty boy in this vid is actually a kpop star, so your guess was not that far from the truth BUT, despite his wooden performance from time to time, I still liked their attempts to display him as human-looking and vulnerable as possible, while maintaining his real role, that of the actual Mr Lee, the drug kingpin. Like he always looks worn out, exhausted, you can even see it in the poster. And the rest of the characters in this are downright off the charts in madness, it's just a great watch. So I hope you do give it a shot! Looking forward to your impressions! Also, it's a movie, not a series/drama, so you should be able to have fun while not having to invest yourself tooooo much.

Because I have been staring at my screen for way longer than the 177 seconds you have crafted for us here. I was transfixed my man. Lost in an aggressive yet welcome and sweet intrusion into the episodes of deep introspection I get every night.

Thanks, man! It is really cool to see all your clips at the same time and make it all together in one epic final cut, guys. So it is a privilege and also a big responsibility for me do this job for you. So i really touched that most of you liked it.

Want to note growing of you editing skills, in places I can see good syncrodrodynamics, and definitely you feel the music.
Glad to see you here again with really intersting sources and I hope next time you will blow our minds. Good luck, pal!

Hahah, yes, thank you my friend!
The duration is still similar, though I've attempted to make it more bearable this time, in an attempt to get you invested in the atmosphere (if not the plot ).
Thanks a lot for the nice highlights; and regarding the mind blowing... I actually had a much more impressive video in mind for this CreaCon, I have been thinking about it ever since the end of FreeCon 2019, but I let real life get in the way and kept saying that I'll have enough time to do it and ended up starting it way too late. That's why I switched to working on a simpler project, but this doesn't make me any less happy with it, hah.

Тем не менее смотрел без определенного интереса и восторга.

Your intuition is fairly correct, though my intention was not to make it a trailer, despite the fact that the song I used is a trailer-ish song.

Heeey, thanks a lot buddy!
Hope you get to watch this movie, Inside Men is the exact name of the main source. Also the one I used as a cameo shot, The President's Last Bang, is also a fun movie to watch, despite being quite old (2005). It's got a kinda comedic (black comedy, kinda) take on the assassination of the head of a military dictatorship in South Korea, which is a turning point in South Korean history, thus portrayed in many films (yes I am super into South Korean movies ).
And yeah! I think I will try my hand with more action and overflow style, though I mostly like to have a plot in my edits, however small or briefly weaved in.

Hello author, about clip:
The Intro Speech part (00:00-00:23) was good, it helps the viewer to concentrate and feel some atmosphere. However, after this part comes track which sadly does not fit into the atmosphere that the speech has created. Instead it destroys the atmosphere and the viewer should reconstruct different atmosphere in his head.
Okay then after that comes first part (00:23-1:27). This part is dark. It should have served as an introduction of characters, introduction of events. But as user "Илья Чижов" said there are a lot of confusions between characters - who is who. A lot of costume changes of characters create confusion, different environments create confusion, newspapers, texts that I do not understand create confusion. This part was not successful and it will surely affect other parts.
After that comes second part (1:27-1:57). This part is bright. It has a lot of actions, nice sync. Overall nice part.
Then the third part: conclusion (1:57-3:10). This part is relatively dark. This part has unknown characters - girls, confused characters which was affected by part I.
Overall story of the three parts that I understood. MC was wealthy man, than he was jailed, after that he was released and then he takes revenge. (However, I am not sure)
The last part did not convince me, it has not that brutality in Intro Speech part.
Overall this clip has nice structure, slightly unbalanced dark/bright, narrative with a lot of confusions. My impression about this clip is that this clip is a bit boring, maybe the theme and track was not my cup of tea.

Hello there my great friend okhostok!
I thank you a lot for such a detailed piece of feedback, and also for taking the time to properly write this in English, I admire you (but you know that).

I noticed you guys seemed to find some trouble getting the plot, it is perhaps that I didn't manage to convey it properly, I agree.
I'm disappointed the song ruined the atmosphere though, but I understand your viewpoint. I only have one question though... did you mean dark as in "negative" and light as in "positive"?
I also agree with the fact that the last part did not resemble the same brutality, it seems I have failed to quite recreate it in the last few days prior to the contest as I had spent a lot of time constructing the rest of it. It did deserve a better ending but the length of the song, its structure and everything, all considering, gave me what you see here.

Now to help clear out some confusion, let me describe what I intended to portray here: so, we start off from one of the main characters, the so-called wealthy man that you described who is shown in more phases of his life, the current one can be understood to be the one where he is at his worst as we will notice later on: he has lost his right hand, he is disgraced and wants revenge; then I slowly start revealing the fact that his downfall has much to do with people in power who have been corrupted by said power.
All these people, however, are being hunted down by one of the few righteous prosecutors out there, shown staring at the whiteboard of pictures and information that connects all the cases of corruption of these people. The plot of the movie is based on the interaction of this wealthy man and this prosecutor, who cross paths and grow from enemies to allies.
Now, this wealthy man has grown wealthy only through his work as a gangster, so that's why I interleave the bits from his present state with the ones from his past life, working as a gangster and serving both the old man (a journalist) that is shown at the beginning in the intro, and the other, white-haired one (also briefly shown at the beginning in photos). He is now going to make use of his connections from his gangster life in order to cook up this complex scheme of exposing the dark secrets of these corrupt people, all revealed by both him (which will get him imprisoned) and the prosecutor, who they think will be more believable in front of the people.
The girls, or rather, the one girl which dies in the end in an arranged car crash and fuels his last act of vengeance upon the people who wronged him, is a connection from his past; I do not reveal the fact that he was also dealing with prostitution, but I have implied that the girl who helps him in the end is a friend of his and actually rather close to him (or so I hoped to imply, hahah).

Now, while I know that the fact that I need to explain things means that I have not presented things clearly enough, I still decided to say this because I want you to know what my vision was. With this being said, I will confess that through this video I have still attempted to come full circle and describe the entire story by showing the evolution of the main character (the wealthy gangster man) in relation to the rest of the characters, both the ones he fought against, and the ones who helped him throughout his story.
I still hope that you managed to enjoy it, despite it not being exactly your cup of tea. Thanks a whole lot once again!

Much better than your first clip here. It is good that you trying another genres, but criminal thriller needs a little more narrative in storytelling i think. It seems that story is complex here but represented in visual methods mostly. For me it was hard to understand who is who in this story. Atmosphere is good, you did a lot of work here and polished clip good. Maybe it is too many cuts in first half of video. Job is fine anyway.

All of you guys seem to think it's better and I much appreciate it, though I hope my first one hasn't been too shabby either hahah Still, thanks a lot! Yes, this entry is something I ended up competing with after realizing I don't have much time left and since my experience hasn't helped me -that- much, this is what came out. So what you're basically saying is that I should have also included some dialogue or text to help me? I agree with the cuts, it was probably too much footage in too little time, but I also tried to go for the overflow/oversync style a bit.
